What is Verruca?

A quite widespread skin disease, Verruca is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). It is the benign growth of the upper layer of the skin caused by localized infection, mostly appearing on the hands and the feet.

What are the causes?

This skin condition caused by HPV is transmitted through contact with another wart. Open wounds or scars on the skin promote infection and the emergence of warts.

How is it treated?

When you detect a common wart on your skin, you must see a Dermatologist. As part of the treatment, a plan is outlined to neutralize the HPV. For the most effective healing, topical creams, cryotherapy, and acidic compounds are used to eliminate the virus. In some rare cases, though, surgery might be inevitable.

What to do to prevent it?

Warts must not be cut off with hand or with a tool. You are advised not to use the common areas with other people. Another highlight is that warts can grow more easily in moist environments, hence you are supposed to keep your skin dry. It must be remembered that the disease multiplies through transmission.
